Okay, let's say you've finished writing your book and you think it's really freaking amazing. The truth is, 9-10 times, it isn't. Let me guess, auto correct is your only editor? You're editing it yourself? If you're self-publishing, this is probably the case.
The truth is, editors are expensive. For an average novel (45,000-80,000 words) it can cost anywhere between 900 and 2,000 dollars. If you're like me, you don't have that kind of money to spend on something that might not even get you the money back. Here's a few tricks you can use to edit without spending any money. The first trick I have is to read your story out loud. Read it to a family member or to yourself and figure out what just doesn't sound right. Trust me, it does help. The second trick I have for you is to ask your friends or family to read it over, and comment as they go about what can need fixing. For example, my stories are very childish, so some people suggested that I make them a bit more realistic. You will likely have to rewrite your book a few times to get it to the best possible story it can be. Lastly, I am not saying to ditch auto-correct entirely. It is a useful tool that can help you spell and it kind of helps with some grammar. The only issue with auto correct is that it can't tell you if your story line is garbage or not. It can't give you a real opinion on your work. Happy editing!

Alright, the #1 step to writing, is knowing what you're trying to write. Only write about things you're used to. Don't try to step outside of your comfort zone first thing. Start off by writing about what you love. Like me, I'm currently writing teen fiction because I love writing teen fiction. I'm not going to turn around and start writing about horror or mystery.
Secondly, if you are writing a novel, know that most are around 45,000-80,000 words long. They take a lot of time to write. If you write around 800-1,500 words every day for a year, you can finish up to eight novels a year. One problem, though, is that writer's block and life get in the way of writing much. Third, people are impaitent. Personally, I hate long introductions. Most stories have to start off with a bang to get my attention. If there isn't action in the first few paragraphs, people will lose intrest. People today are impaitent. With smartphones and internet in our hands, there is a lower popularity for books. You have to keep it interesting! Lastly, writing is NOT just outting your thoughts down on a slip of paper and calling it a story. Most people have trouble trying to get their thoughts down to where other people can understand what they're trying to say. You can't just say one moment that she was wearing blue dress, then the next say she was wearing a green dress when in your mund she was wearing a blue-green dress. That confuses readers too much. Happy writing! Many new authors wonder the same thing: How do I get discovered? I am writing this blog because, I too, want to know how I can get discovered. This blog will explain how authors both famous and infamous, got found and published. You will learn how to write your story, how to publish your story, and how to get your story discovered. Enjoy!
